What We Do:

You may not think homeless families inhabit our suburbs, but they’re here–and in growing numbers.  These families may have resembled yours and mine until a personal tragedy, such as a job loss or family breakup, left them bereft of financial resources.

In the face of such circumstances, many families seek and eventually exhaust the support of loved ones.  As time goes on the challenge of finding adequate employment, as well as affordable health and child care, becomes increasingly formidable with long-term goals often falling by the wayside.

Fortunately, a simple call to the Inter-Faith Housing Alliance can give families the boost they need to transform their lives.  At I-FHA families find a safe place to live, food to eat, and the opportunity to develop marketable skills, all the while laying the groundwork for self-sufficiency.

Founded in 1982, I-FHA is a nonprofit, interfaith organization comprised of hundreds of caring volunteers and a small administrative staff-–all dedicated to helping homeless families in Montgomery County, PA get back on their feet.

In 1989 I-FHA established the Inter-Faith Hospitality Network to provide emergency shelter to homeless families.
